Top AFL Commercial Partnerships: Saints, Bombers, More

With the 2021/22 AFLW season ongoing and the 2022 AFL season start date drawing closer, here are all the latest commercial partnerships from around the league.

St Kilda Saints

St Kilda has announced a new partnership with Belgravia Leisure to support the day-to-day operations of the gym, pool and physical rehabilitation facilities of the soon-to-be-opened Danny Frawley Centre for Health and Wellbeing (DFC).

With the DFC to be opened in March, St Kilda CEO, Matt Finnis, said: “We’re excited to welcome Belgravia Leisure on board as we take another significant step towards opening the Danny Frawley Centre.”

“Going into this venture we knew that to be able to provide the best service to everyone who walks through the doors of the centre, it’s important that we appointed an operations and management body with a wealth of experience in this space.

“We look forward to working closely with Belgravia Leisure as we establish the Danny Frawley Centre as a destination facility for the community’s physical and mental health needs,” Finnis said.

The club has also brought in online men’s health platform, Mosh, as a commercial partner, with the brand to be features on the sleeves of Saints’ coaches’ polos throughout the 2022 season.

Fremantle Dockers

Elsewhere in the AFL, Fremantle has announced WA-based supermarket chain, Spudshed, as an official sponsor.

Essendon Bombers

The Essendon Football Club’s partnership with Yakult is set to reach its 20th year after the pair announced a three-year partnership extension.

Yakult will remain the training ball and interchange bench sponsor of the club, as well as the official partner of the Chrichton Medal and annual Tackling Childhood Cancer match.

Essendon CEO, Xavier Campbell, said the loyalty and longevity shown by Yakult as a partner is exciting as the partnership enters 20 years.

“As our longest-serving commercial partner, we are so thrilled to continue our relationship with Mr Kenji Ono, Mr David Whatley and the Yakult family,” Campbell said.

“To work in partnership together for over 17 years is something both organisations should be incredibly proud of.

“In recent years, we’ve seen Yakult align with our charity partner Challenge to present our annual Tackling Childhood Cancer Game, which highlights the partnership going from strength to strength and for the betterment of others beyond our organisation,” he said.

Sydney Swans

Lastly, the Sydney Swans Academy has partnered with both AFL North Coast and AFL North West in an effort to provide more opportunities for grassroots athletes to reach the elite level.

The partnership will provide a clear process for players in the region to attend Sydney metro sessions in the hopes of selection in higher level Sydney Swans Academy programs.

Coaches from the regions will also be able to access coaching programs and resources designed by Sydney Swans AFL personnel.
