Auswide Bank teams with QRL to sponsor Maroons and grassroots

Auswide Bank will become Queensland Rugby League’s (QRL) newest major partner, cementing the sporting organisation as one of the strongest in the country.

This signals a new era for the Maroons and the state’s emerging talent, as Auswide Bank’s logo will feature on the front of the Maroons jersey for the Holden State of Origin Series, whilst also carrying the naming rights to the under 18’s Meninga Cup competition.

QRL Managing Director, Robert Moore said: “The QRL is thrilled to have Auswide Bank on board as our official banking partner.”

“There is such a strong alignment of values, aspirations and commitment to the community between the two organisations.

“Collaboratively over the next three years, Auswide Bank and Queensland Rugby League plan to roll out a range of initiatives that will enable Rugby League families to be both financially and physically healthy.”

Auswide Bank has shown its commitment to supporting the future generation of sporting stars, becoming the naming rights partner to   

“It’s fantastic to partner with an organisation that is excited about the grassroots level of the game and the development of the next generation of talent,” Mr Moore said.

“The Mal Meninga Cup is an important cog in our pathway competitions and we look forward to seeing our best Under 18 players on the field in the Auswide Bank Mal Meninga Cup in 2019.”

Auswide bank joins superannuation company Intrustsuper, XXXX Gold and Australian sports clothing manufacturer, ISC as major sponsors of the QRL.

Martin Barrett of Auswide Bank said this was the most significant announcement for Auswide Bank since the 52-year-old institution became a registered bank in 2015.   

“The partnership with the Queensland Rugby League enables us as a bank to have a large footprint across the state, with the ability to engage with a thriving Maroon Membership base as well as more than 66,000 participants and 460 community clubs,” he said.

“Regional Queensland represents a very passionate and loyal fan base of which many of our customers belong.”

Securing such a significant partner from the banking sector shows the QRL commercial team are really building momentum through the new QRL structure that has been formed.

Lead by QRL employees Lou Gardiner & Rohan Sawyer this new partnerships shows brands why they should partner with grassroots to Queensland Maroons across the whole state – “Munchkin to Maroons” opportunities.

QRL Chief Operating Officer, Rohan Sawyer said: “The Maroons (men’s and women’s) and QRL offering has been refreshed with a leading integrated digital offering along with a problem solving approach to partnerships for brands.”

“A number of new partnership discussions are well advanced and likely to see more quality partners join the QRL family,” he said.

Queensland Maroons players Matt Gillet and Jarrod Wallace will be at Hinkler Central Shopping Centre on Saturday the 10th from 10am – 1pm as part of Auswide Bank’s public partnership announcement.
