UFC Australia And New Zealand Social Media Grows 1,802% In One Year

FC Australia/New Zealand social media accounts have generated the highest growth of followers of any other national sporting code in Australia from August 1, 2019 to August 1, 2020.

UFCANZ on Instagram saw grew by over 1,802% over the year, going from 13,200 followers, to 251,000, with the UFC ANZ Facebook account also growing from 747,000 to 1,704,652 followers.

Notably, the Facebook content published by UFC ANZ saw video views rise by 1,259%, reaching over half a billion minutes viewed, and saw a rise in engagements by 509% to 7.5 million likes, comments, shares, and clicks.

UFC vice president of Australia and New Zealand, Peter Kloczko, said the Australia and New Zealand market for UFC is competition for any other major sport.

“These are powerful numbers,” Kloczko said.

“Our recent efforts to regionalise the social media content offering across Australia and New Zealand has uncovered a growing interest in UFC locally and a passionate fanbase on par with any other major sport,” he said.

In terms of global social media numbers, UFC has 124 million followers across its social media portfolio and reigns as the fastest growing sport on Facebook and Instagram and the second-fastest growing sport on Twitter.

UFC also reported 70 million hours of content watched on its YouTube from January to June 2020, marking a 122% increase to the year before, even despite the absence of live sport due to COVID-19.

Across UFC’s global social media portfolio, the sport has recorded a growth of 34% so far this year.
