The second iteration of Adelaide’s LIV Golf event saw a record 94,000 attendees watch on at the Grange Golf Club across the weekend.
Off the back of a successful 2023, interest in the event has grown significantly, with a heightened focus on spectator experience.
This year’s event saw greater organisation and event management, including upgraded facilities and on-site amenities.
As LIV Golf looks to enhance its demographic beyond golf enthusiasts to younger audiences and families, the combination of entertainment and elite sports has yet again proved to be a successful combination.
With 40% of attendees from interstate or overseas, the impact of the event on South Australia’s tourism industry, particularly in the wake of AFL Gather Round, was significant, as hotel occupancy rates surged to 55% 61 days out from the event.
LIV Golf has also committed to continuing the event in Adelaide, despite strong financial pushes from other major Australian cities like Brisbane and Perth.
With two major sporting events, AFL Gather Round and LIV Golf, now locked into the South Australian events calendar, the power of sport and major events to garner significant tourism is proving to be stronger than ever.
