enius Sports Group has renewed its long-term data technology deal with the National Basketball League (NBL).
The data and commercial partner has worked closely with Australia’s domestic basketball league since 2015, where they have provided live team and player statistics under their collection data tool, FIBA LiveStats.
NBL chief commercial officer, Brad Joyner, said the goal of expanding the league into a global powerhouse was one of the main reasons behind sticking with Genius Sports Group.
“The NBL continues to expand its digital footprint across the world and this has been one of the fastest growing parts of our business as a global league,” Joyner said.
“We’re delighted to extend our partnership with Genius Sports Group who have been a great partner of the NBL over many years,” he said.
In a release, Genius Sports Group commercial director, Thomas Klingebiel, said it is no coincidence record-breaking attendances, along with broadcast and global audiences have grown in the past five years.
“We believe NBL’s commitment to putting official data at the heart of their entire digital offering has been crucial to their rapid growth in recent years, setting a precedent for basketball leagues and federations worldwide,” Klingebiel said.
Genius Sports’ technology is used in over 150 countries worldwide, and the company are partners with over 500 sports globally, where they are involved in a number of the premium leagues around the world, including: the NBA, EPL, NASCAR, and PGA Tour.
