Arsenal achieves record-breaking Women’s Super League attendance at Emirates Stadium

In a historic moment for English women’s football, Arsenal has set a new attendance record in the Women’s Super League, with a crowd of 59,042 on hand at Emirates Stadium to watch the Gunners secure an impressive 4-1 victory against Chelsea on December 10.

This figure surpasses the previous WSL attendance record of 54,115, set during Arsenal’s home fixture against Liverpool on October 1, also at Emirates Stadium.

The remarkable turnout is part of a trend of consistently high attendances over the past two seasons. Arsenal’s women’s team typically plays at Meadow Park, with select high-profile matches held at Emirates Stadium. Meadow Park, with a capacity of 4,500, has experienced sold-out crowds throughout the current season. Additionally, Arsenal supporters have fully sold out every away ticket allocation in the WSL this season.

The upcoming WSL fixture at Emirates Stadium, scheduled against Manchester United on February 17, has already sold over 25,000 tickets, making it Arsenal’s fastest-selling women’s game to date. Anticipation is also building for the Women’s FA Cup clash against Tottenham Hotspur on December 13, with 3,000 tickets sold in just four days.

During a media roundtable ahead of the Chelsea game, Arsenal shared insights into their fanbase composition. The club revealed that 61 percent of tickets sold for women’s games at Emirates Stadium last year were purchased by first-time buyers, with 51 percent of this audience being under the age of 35.

Emily Jones, Senior Venue Analyst at Arsenal, expressed her enthusiasm about the growing support.

“We have had Liverpool at the Emirates where we sold 54,000, Aston Villa where we were sold 35,000, and now almost 60,000 with Chelsea,” Jones said.

“We have two more matches at the Emirates [this season] which [are] Spurs and Man United, and we are hoping we will get as close to 60,000 again. We want to make sure we’re really capturing this audience, make them come back and increase retention.
