Top NBL Commercial Partnerships: Bullets, Wildcats, More

Ahead of the NBL season, beginning 1 October, here are the latest NBL partnerships.

Adelaide 36ers:

The Adelaide 36ers have announced an extensive partnership with Flinders University, offering students work experience opportunities and discounted tickets.

Flinders University will also feature on the 36ers jersey for the next two seasons.

Flinders University vice-chancellor, Romy Lawson, said: “This partnership with the Adelaide 36ers is actively supporting hands on learning … where our students are undertaking 140 hours of placement, providing them with outstanding opportunities for real-world experience as the NBL expands its national reach.”

The 36ers have also seen chairman Grant Kelley buy out the Basketball Investment Group’s 19% shareholding to obtain a 100% stake in the club.

The 36ers have also renewed their partnership with BASE Compression sportswear.

Brisbane Bullets:

The Brisbane Bullets have agreed a two-year deal with So Soda to become the club’s exclusive non-alcoholic drinks sponsor.

The deal means drinks at Bullets’ home games will be exclusively supplied by So Soda.

So Soda director and founder, Amelia Carew, said: “As a proud QLD business we’re thrilled to be partnering with such an iconic QLD brand in the Brisbane Bullets.”

“At So Soda we’re bringing a new generation of drinks to the adult lifestyle, and the Bullets bring a fantastic form of entertainment to enjoy our drinks with,” she added.

Melbourne United:

Melbourne United will partner with the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation’s program, Love the Game.

The program aims to reduce youth exposure to sports betting advertising and is pushing for an end to sponsorship by sports betting companies.

United will be one of more than 700 partners across Victoria, where United CEO, Nick Truelson, said: “Our club purpose is to use the power of basketball to inspire, entertain and enrich people’s lives, therefore it is also vital to us that we are strongly supporting community social issues.”

“Hence, we are very proud to play our part to raise awareness of the risks associated with gambling and the potential for negative consequences,” he said.

Perth Wildcats:

Perth Wildcats have renewed their agreement with the Health Insurance Fund of Australia (HIF), taking the partnership into its 11th season.

HIF are the Wildcats’ diamond partner, with their logo featuring on the team’s jersey.

Commenting on the NBL’s longest-running partnership, HIF CEO, Justin James, said: “You only need to go to a Wildcats game or look on social media to know how well loved and supported they are.

“HIF is extremely proud to have been side-by-side with them along their NBL journey.”

Wildcats’ head of commercial, Sam Fotu, added: “Like the Wildcats, HIF is heavily invested in people and the importance of teamwork for team success which is why we enjoy a partnership that’s entering into its 11th season.”

South East Melbourne Phoenix:

South East Melbourne Phoenix have announced that property company, Jinding, will re-sign as a major partner of the club for 2023.

Jinding will have extensive signage throughout the club and appear on coaches’ clothing.

Phoenix CEO, Tommy Greer, said: “Having a brand that values loyalty and trust, is someone we want to partner with as we embody those values every day at the organisation.”

Tasmania JackJumpers:

The Tasmania JackJumpers have retained travel company, Spirit of Tasmania, as the club’s foundation principal partner for the next five seasons.

Spirit of Tasmania were a key sponsor in the JackJumpers’ debut season and will have their logo displayed front and centre on the JackJumpers’ jersey.

Jackjumpers chief commercial officer, Christine Finnegan, said: “This is a really significant occasion in the short history of our Club.”

“Spirit of Tasmania is an iconic Tasmanian brand that connects people and products with mainland Australia, and also connects the local community through partnerships like this.

“We’re very proud to have a prominent Tasmanian company on the front of our jersey as we head into season two and beyond,” she said.

The JackJumpers also announced that Metro Tasmania would be the official partner of the club’s mascot, Jack the Jumper.

The coach service will deliver Jack the Jumper to community events all over Tasmania during the season.
