OEG Sports & Entertainment has solidified its commitment to the ongoing growth of Edmonton’s ICE District by entering into a memorandum of understanding with both the Government of Alberta and the City of Edmonton.
This partnership is poised to facilitate the development of an Event Park, along with a cohesive public realm space that will seamlessly connect to Rogers Place.
The initiative also encompasses provisions for public infrastructure servicing at the Village at ICE District and includes the demolition of the old Coliseum at Exhibition Lands.
The strategic developments are expected to further revitalise the region, stimulate economic growth, enhance safety, and support the construction of essential housing.
The initial phase of the ICE District has already made a significant economic impact, contributing CAD$3.2 billion (AUD$3.52 billion) to the city and establishing itself as a pivotal element in the area’s revitalisation efforts.
Moreover, the success of Rogers Place and the overarching ICE District has played a crucial role in advancing the “Edmonton Capital City Downtown Community Revitalization Levy (CRL)”, which has funded various public infrastructure projects, paving the way for this next phase of development.
