Nu Officially Launches United States Operations at Inter Miami CF’s Nu Stadium

Latin American digital banking Nu has officially commenced its commercial operations in the United States, marking a strategic milestone through an exclusive launch event hosted at Inter Miami CF’s state-of-the-art Nu Stadium.

Bringing over 300 VIP guests to the newly transformed venue facilities, the digital financial services leader showcased its remarkable global growth trajectory alongside its landmark multi-year main partnership with the Major League Soccer club, which was originally established in March 2026.

This high-profile market entry introduces a suite of consumer financial products, including the specialized Nu Account, Nu Credit Card, and Nu Global—a multi-currency digital account facilitating fee-free money movement across more than 35 countries for over 140 million existing customers worldwide.

President of business operations at Inter Miami CF, Xavier Asensi, emphasised the value of aligning the football club with high-growth global technology brands.

“From the very beginning, our Ownership group strived to be the reference of fútbol in the United States. Just as importantly, for us as a fútbol club, it is to build those strategic partnerships, with alliances that allow us to grow to the next level.”

“Having partners like Nu brings us to that level and their ambition is a representation of what we are and what we want to be,” Asensi said.

Reflecting on the organisation’s decade-plus evolution across emerging international markets, Nu founder and CEO, David Vélez detailed the vision driving the United States market entry.

“This is the next chapter of something we started thirteen years ago in a small house in São Paulo.”

“Since our founding, we have believed that consumer-obsessed digital banking is the future of retail banking globally, and after proving this hypothesis with over 140 million fanatical customers in Latin America, we are excited to start executing our thesis beyond our core region,” Vélez said.

Echoing this growth strategy, Nu US co-founder and CEO, Cristina Junqueira, outlined the operational efficiencies underpinning the mobile-first model.

“Our customer-centricity and our fully mobile banking model allow us to pass on efficiencies straight back to our customers, all in service of building the best everyday mobile banking solution.”

“We want to earn the place of being people’s primary banking relationship, and capturing even a small share of the U.S. market will be transformative for our business,” Junqueira said.
