As the start of the 2022 Toyota AFL premiership season draws closer, the AFL has announced Kennedy will become the league’s official timekeeper.
The five-year partnership will see the luxury timepiece business become the AFL’s exclusive timekeeper from the start of the 2022 season.
Kennedy will have prominent visibility at AFL games throughout the season and will see the Kennedy Shot Clock featured on screens whilst the players line up their goal shots.
Kennedy’s chief operations officer, Aaron Faraguna, said the partnership compliments both Kennedy’s and the AFL’s appreciation for time and time keeping.
“Kennedy is proud to be appointed as the official timekeeper of the AFL,” Faraguna said.
“Kennedy is an Australian family-owned company focused on delivering extraordinary service and innovation to the luxury watch and jewellery market.
“The AFL is a natural fit for us with our shared passion for excellence and the importance of time,” he said.
AFL executive general manager of customer and commercial, Kylie Rogers, said: “Partnering with luxury retailer Kennedy is very exciting.”
“We’re pleased to be welcoming the expertise of Kennedy as the AFL official timekeeper until 2026,” Rogers said.
The partnership news comes not long after the league and a number of its clubs announced a multitude of partnerships ahead of the upcoming season, including a historical five-year cryptocurrency deal with crypto.com which will see platform attain exclusive naming rights to the AFL’s score review.
The AFL season will kick off on 16 March at the MCG, which is currently undergoing a feasibility study, conducted by the Victorian government.
The study will determine if the stadium’s southern stand needs an entire rebuild or a smaller update.
