Top NBL Commercial Partnerships: Hawks, 36ers, More

With the start of the 2021-22 NBL season under a month away, here are the latest commercial partnerships from across the league.

The Illawarra Hawks have announced a renewal of their partnership with Pepper Money, seeing the brand remain the principal partner of the club for the upcoming season.

As part of the partnership renewal, the pair will launch the ‘Real Life Stories’ content series, led by community engagement officer, Tim Coenraad, profiling the community partners, with the support of Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, Clontarf Foundation’s Vincentia Academy, and the Disability Trust Partners.

Pepper Money Australia and New Zealand CEO, Mario Rehayem, said: “As the principal sponsor of the Illawarra Hawks, one of the things we’re proudest about is being able to help the local Illawarra community interact with the club that they love.”

“Together, and throughout our partnership, we continue to make it our mission to help create real-life differences that will positively impact the underserved in the Illawarra community.

“Our aim is to action our support with increased community engagement along with the development of programs that change people’s lives for the better.

“As part of this commitment, each of the selected community partners will receive $1,000 grant on behalf of Pepper Money and the Hawks as assistance to continue their meaningful work with the underserved,” he said.

The Hawks also announced a new partnership with Titanium Traffic Management (TTM), with the company set to become the Hawks Hero Award partner for the upcoming season.

Elsewhere in the NBL, the Brisbane Bullets have announced Pilpel restaurant and Tom’s Confectionary Warehouse as interchangeable partners, with each business set to be targeted for different audiences within the Bullets pipeline.

The partnership sees Pilpel be displayed on the team’s shooting shirts throughout the season and supply food to the players post-training and post-games, with Tom’s to focus on connecting with fans through special offers and events.

Brisbane Bullets CEO, Peter McLennan, said the businesses, which are both owned by Adiel Ben-Karmona, will become a major support partner of the club.

“It’s exciting to have successful family owned organisations partner with the Bullets,” McLennan said.

“Adiel has demonstrated that with perseverance, a great vision and great passion, that a family business can be successful in any desired field.

“We look forward to working with Adiel, driving the partnership to achieve great results,” he said.

Meanwhile, Pentanet have extended their long-term principal partnership of the Perth Wildcats until at least the 2024/25 NBL season.

South East Melbourne Phoenix have announced Australian-owned company, TRADIE, as a major partner of the club, taking up sponsorship position on the club’s playing shorts, with the brand’s logo to appear during in-game entertainment at home games.

The club have also announced an official Indigenous round partnership with Kangaroo Jack, with the focusing on providing Indigenous youth opportunities to play basketball with education and engagement programs for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth in Victoria.

Lastly, the Adelaide 36ers have announced a pair of partnerships, extending their major partnership with Australian Motors Mitsubishi for a further two seasons and bringing in Australian winemaker, Jacob’s Creek, to be integrated into the club’s pre-and-post match function room, the Jacob’s Creek Legends Room.

Pernod Ricard’s head of global wine delivery, Emma Baldwin, said Jacob’s Creek was excited to announce the Adelaide 36ers as its latest sports partnership.

“At a time where sport has never been more important, Jacob’s Creek is excited to support the Adelaide 36ers for the upcoming NBL season which will see basketball fans reunite together once again,” Baldwin said.

“We are looking forward to recognising a talented team and celebrating sportsmanship over a glass of our award-winning range of wines in the Jacob’s Creek Legends Room,” she said.
