The numbers are in.

The Paris 2024 Olympics have captivated millions of Australians, with record-breaking viewership numbers across traditional and streaming platforms.

9Network

Across the 9Network, 19.5 million Australians tuned in to the Olympic broadcast via Channel 9, 9Gem, and 9Now. The Games contributed to a daily National Total TV Reach of 9.9 million viewers, showcasing the widespread appeal of this global event. 9Now, the network’s streaming service, was a standout performer, achieving the highest daily share in VOZ history during the first week of the Games. Impressively, 4.8 million Australians aged 16-39 engaged with the Games through 9Now, with 2.7 million viewers tuning in exclusively via the platform, further solidifying its growing influence in the streaming market.

Stan Sports

Stan Sport delivered remarkable results throughout the Games, recording over 50% growth in subscribers and a 24% increase in daily minutes streamed. Subscribers embraced Stan Sport’s upgraded interface, which made navigating international time zones and accessing thousands of hours of on-demand content seamless. This functionality proved particularly popular, with 40% of viewers opting for replays, highlights, and exclusive minis.

Stan Sport also enhanced its Olympic coverage with daily shows like Olympics Daily and Paris Preview, featuring expert commentary from Australian sports legends such as Ash Barty, Grant Hackett, and Stephanie Rice. These shows offered deeper insights into the Olympic action from some of the nation’s most celebrated athletes.

The unprecedented success of both 9Network and Stan Sport in broadcasting the Paris 2024 Olympics underscores the evolving ways Australians consume live sports. By combining traditional television with cutting-edge streaming options, these platforms have set a new standard for sports coverage in Australia.
