Sport 24 To Broadcast FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup

IMG-owned in-flight and in-ship sports channel Sport 24 has announced a deal with FIFA to broadcast the Australia and New Zealand 2023 Women’s World Cup.

The contract will allow Sport 24 to air more than 90 hours of live Women’s World Cup coverage, for all 64 tournament games between 20th July and 20th August.

IMG’s senior vice president, Richard Wise said that this event is set to be a global spectacle and now passengers will be able to watch the very best sporting action even while traveling.

“Off the back of our best ever FIFA World Cup coverage, we’re delighted to add more thrilling international football to our global rights portfolio for our airline and cruise ship partners,” said Wise.

The addition of this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup will establish Sport 24’s content, with its portfolio containing the 2023 Rugby World Cup, and the International Cricket Council (ICC) men’s 2023 Cricket World Cup.

Sport24’s coverage of the men’s Qatar 2022 World Cup reached a total of five million viewers across more than 800 aircraft and 150 cruise ships.

FIFA are still finalizing the competition’s TV broadcast arrangements for several other major markets, with the UK, Germany and Italy among several territories currently without a rights deal in place.

SPORT 24 is a Denmark’s sports chain, providing live sports channel for airlines and cruises.

This announcement comes after FIFA Women’s World Cup launched the FIFA Fan Festival.
