Special Olympics International has officially finalised a technology consulting agreement with global venue and major events technical firm PMY Group. The partnership installs PMY as the primary specialist advisory partner to deliver comprehensive games technology consulting services as the international governing body prepares for the 2027 Special Olympics World Games in Santiago, Chile.
Under the agreement, PMY’s Sport, Venues and Major Events division will oversee the optimisation of Special Olympics’ proprietary “Games-in-a-box” technology program. This focused framework is engineered to package critical software applications and best-practice operational templates into a scalable, repeatable toolkit for local organising committees. PMY’s specific technical remit covers the deployment of competition management systems, automated registration and credentialing workflows, and specialised integration protocols for timing and scoring application programming interfaces (APIs).

Commenting on the agreement, PMY executive general manager – Sport, Venues and Major Events, John de Carvalho, said: “Special Olympics International operates one of the largest and most inclusive sporting movements in the world, and that scale requires technology that is reliable, robust and well managed.”
“SOI’s Games-in-a-box approach is about making things simpler and more consistent, so teams have the systems and support they need to do their jobs well.
“We’re proud to support them in their effort and to be working with an organisation whose focus is on inclusion and opportunity inspiring people all over the world.
“PMY views the partnership as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully beyond technology delivery, supporting an organisation that creates life-changing opportunities for athletes around the world,” Carvalho said.
Expressing her enthusiasm, Special Olympics International VP – Major Event Technology, Isabel Cervelló, added: “Technology plays a critical role in enabling our programmes and events around the world to run smoothly.”
“Working with PMY allows us to leverage proven expertise by industry experts in games technology and systems delivery, while ensuring that our teams are supported by clear frameworks, tools and best-practice processes,” she said.
The infrastructure contract also requires the technology firm to develop unified website APIs and author a comprehensive Games Technology Handbook. This publication will serve as the global technical operational manual, formalising standard operating procedures across multi-stakeholder international environments. The central body aims to minimise administrative redundancies, lower local tech deployment costs, and safeguard data management protocols across subsequent world event cycles.
The appointment follows a successful operational deployment during the 2025 Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, Italy, where PMY managed high-pressure technical delivery roles under challenging winter alpine conditions. By retaining the firm for the 2027 iteration in South America, the organisation secures critical operational continuity, protecting its institutional knowledge base while scaling its technological capabilities to manage the massive influx of international athletes, delegation officials, and global media personnel.
