Pirates Charities to celebrate Mental Health Awareness Month with Family Walk

image

Pirates Charities, together with Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, invites families across Pittsburgh to take part in the Pirates Charities Family Walk on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at PNC Park.

This family-friendly event will support mental health programming through a partnership with Allegheny Health Network.

Walk Through the Ballpark

Participants will enjoy a two-mile walk-through PNC Park, often recognised as the “best ballpark in America.”

The route offers stunning views of the Pittsburgh skyline, ending with an unforgettable finish at home plate.

The event is fully ADA-compliant, ensuring accessibility for all.

Meet Pirates Players, Enjoy a Family Carnival

Throughout the event, families will meet Pirates players, coaches, and team mascots.

After the walk, attendees can join a post-walk carnival on the Highmark Riverwalk, featuring games, activities, and valuable mental health resources.

Perks for Early Registration

  • The first 1,000 registrants receive a limited-edition event t-shirt.
  • Every participant gets a voucher for two free tickets to select Pirates home games (May 1–June 30).
  • Groups of four or more can save USD$5 per person.
  • Children in strollers can join for free.

This community event reinforces the Pirates’ and Pirates Charities’ commitment to advancing mental health awareness in Pittsburgh, aiming to break the stigma around seeking behavioral health support.

Along with presenting sponsor Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield, the event is also supported by Giant Eagle and ABARTA Coca-Cola.
