Nissan Furthers Investment In Netball With Naming Rights Deal Of QLD State Netball Centre

Japanese car manufacturer, Nissan, has furthered its investment in Netball by securing the naming rights to the Queensland State Netball Centre for the next three years.

To be called Nissan Arena, the new indoor sports stadium features a sunken show court with a 5,000 seat capacity and is home to Suncorp Super Netball team the Queensland Firebirds, as well as Netball Queensland.

Nissan Australia has been the official automotive partner of Netball Queensland and the Queensland Firebirds for the past three years, as well as owning the naming rights for the Queensland Cup, the Queensland Youth Championships and events that support grass roots netball across the state.

“Nissan Arena is the centrepiece of netball in Queensland, and we are proud to be associated with this wonderful new venue and the wide assortment of teams that will call these courts home,” Nissan Australia managing director, Stephen Lester, said.

“Netball for Nissan is not just about national or Super netball teams, our focus is on the community.

“These fantastic facilities will be enjoyed by many athletes of different standards, helping personal development and to foster a further love of the game.”

In addition to the centre court, there are an additional eight hard courts, plus a gymnasium, high-performance training facilities and premium dining and recreation options.

These new facilities cater to local clubs, through to elite teams across netball and basketball, and further indoor sporting events and entertainment.

“Netball Queensland and Nissan Australia have enjoyed a strong partnership focused on growing the sport of netball in Queensland and this sponsorship takes that relationship to the next level,” Netball Queensland chief executive officer, Catherine Clarke, said.

“Nissan Arena offers fans a full and glorious spectator experience, with a world-class stadium and premium facilities to enhance the thrill of game day.”

In addition to Nissan’s investment in Queensland netball, Nissan Australia is also the major partner and official automotive partner of Netball Australia, Suncorp Super Netball and the national side – the Australian Diamonds.

Nissan supports six of the eight Super Netball teams; these being the NSW Giants, NSW Swifts, Melbourne Vixens, West Coast Fever and the Firebird’s state rival, the Sunshine Coast Lightning. Nissan also partners with every state and territory netball association.
