The NFL has once again stepped up to serve as the title sponsor for the 2023 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) Battle of the Brains (HBCU BOTB).

The competition will feature the best and brightest STEM and business students from HBCUs across the country, who will compete for over US$100,000 in scholarships, with the event taking place in Austin, TX from March 8th to March 12th.

During the five-day event, students will be given a business challenge and have 24 hours to come up with a solution.

The top seven schools will make their pitch in front of a live audience, and will be judged on analysis, a business/technology solution, a presentation, and Q&A, with crowd participation constituting one of the final votes.

The competition will also feature workshops, company tours, and panel discussions, designed to help students grow their skills and connect with industry professionals.

Commenting on sponsoring the event, Senior Vice President, NFL Media & General Manager, Los Angeles, David Jurenka, said: “The NFL is excited to once again sponsor the HBCU Battle of the Brains competition.”

“Year after year, this event has continued to spotlight the gifted and talented young minds that will one day change the world. We are proud to support HBCU BOTB and all that it inspires,” he said.

Over 30 NFL executives and staff will be on hand to provide guidance and support to the participants, with roles including featured speakers, team mentors, and competition judges.

The NFL’s involvement in the event is part of its ongoing commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the tech industry, as well as supporting education initiatives within the African American community.
