In a noteworthy development for the sports landscape, former equestrian athlete and internationally recognised representative for the Philippines, Mikaela Cojuangco Jaworski, is set to play a pivotal role in the preparation for the Olympic Games Brisbane 2032.

Since joining the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board in 2020, Jaworski has leveraged her extensive experience and deep-rooted connections in Australia, where she trained and competed throughout her illustrious career.

Jaworski will take the reins as chair for the forthcoming Coordination Commission meeting scheduled in Brisbane from 20 to 22 May.

This meeting will also see the participation of the IOC President and the President-elect, underscoring the significance of the gathering as preparations ramp up for the 2032 Games.

In her capacity as Commission chair, Jaworski will oversee critical planning and execution efforts for the Brisbane Olympic Games.

Collaborating closely with the Organising Committee, local authorities, Olympic Movement stakeholders, and International Sports Federations, she will ensure the games are developed with a focus on inclusivity, sustainability, and the creation of an unforgettable experience for athletes, fans, and communities alike.

Her previous roles include participation in coordination commissions for major events, such as Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024.

Additionally, she has contributed to evaluation commissions for the upcoming LA28 Games.

Currently, she chairs the Olympic Education Commission and is an active member of several others, including Digital Engagement and Marketing Communications, Sustainability and Legacy, and Esports.

Her previous experiences encompass valuable contributions to the Women and Sport, Olympic Channel, and Communications commissions, as well as involvement with the Future Host Commission for the Games of the Olympiad.

With the Olympic Games in Brisbane slated for 23 July to 8 August and the Paralympic Games to follow from 24 August to 5 September, Jaworski’s leadership will be instrumental in steering the event towards success amidst an evolving sporting landscape.
