oxtel-owned sports streaming platform, Kayo, has revealed the details of Kayo Freebies, a new free offering for live sport, entertainment, and sports documentaries.
The launch of Kayo Freebies will be headlined with the broadcast of a Supercars event on February 26 at the Mt Panorama 500, with users able to create a Kayo account without having to enter credit card details to begin streaming the free broadcasts.
Kayo has revealed the Supercars launch event will be followed by a number of free A-League and W-League matches, and the free events will be accessible either through the Kayo Sports app, or online at the Kayo Sports website.
Announcing the Kayo Freebies offering, Kayo Sports CEO, Julian Ogrin, said the streaming platform hopes Kayo Freebies will further boost audience share and “take Kayo’s subscription growth to the next level.”
“Kayo has experienced massive subscriber growth over the past two years and is now established as the go-to destination for streaming 50 sports live,” Ogrin said.
“We have the biggest line-up of sport from the world’s best producers including Fox Sports, BeIN Sports and ESPN, and we are seeing our customer base continue to grow with record audiences for our AFL, NRL, cricket and motorsport coverage.
“Kayo Freebies is another game-changing moment.
“We believe Kayo Freebies will increase our audience share for selected events, expand audiences for growing sports and ultimately take Kayo’s subscription growth to the next level.
Kayo is the unrivalled service for streaming the world’s best sport.
“We know when people try Kayo, they love the experience.
“Freebies is a way of bringing even more sports fans closer to our brand, enjoying the best commentators and production, and experiencing our technology, which has been built specifically for streaming live sport,” he said.
The concept of Kayo Freebies was first discussed by Kayo in October 2020 but has now come to life with the company saying new live broadcast events for the free service will be announced each month, with each event to be accompanied by post-game extended highlights packages in the form of Kayo Minis, special events, documentaries, and classic matches.
The news comes after new rival sports streaming service Stan Sport recently revealed its subscription price as it continues to target more exclusive streaming broadcast rights for sports including the NBL.
