Hockey Australia and HITIQ Limited Announce Partnership

Hockey Australia has announced a landmark three-year partnership with ASX-listed sports technology firm HITIQ Limited (ASX: HIQ), designating the company as its exclusive Official Player Safety Partner through 2029.

The agreement will see HITIQ’s advanced PROTEQT smart mouthguard technology integrated across the entire national pathway, from grassroots participants to the elite Hockeyroos and Kookaburras squads.

The partnership marks the first time an Australian national governing body has embedded instrumented mouthguard technology at a total-sport level.

With more than 105,000 registered participants nationwide, the deal represents a commercial milestone for HITIQ, with estimated revenue opportunities of $20–$25 million over the three-year term driven by hardware sales and longitudinal brain-health monitoring subscriptions.

Commenting on the partnership, Hockey Australia CEO, David Pryles, said: “This partnership aligns strongly with our responsibility to provide safe, informed and progressive environments for everyone involved in hockey.”

“By integrating education, technology and access at all levels of the game, we are empowering players and families with tools that support smarter decisions around head safety,” Pryles said.

Executive chair of HITIQ, Earl Eddings, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to setting a new benchmark for brain-health monitoring.

“This partnership enables us to deploy world-class technology from grassroots through to the elite programs.”

“Together, we are establishing a scalable model for player safety in Australian sport,” Eddings said.

Commercial Focus on Accessibility and Innovation

A key pillar of the agreement is a national member offer, making the PROTEQT system available to all registered participants at a heavily reduced rate.

This ensures that high-resolution head-impact data is accessible to community players, not just high-performance athletes. The system uses real-time sensors to track impact force and frequency, transmitting data to an app that guides users through sideline assessments.
