The Tasmania Devils have announced the appointment of Emma Doherty as the club’s new Wellbeing, Culture and Inclusion manager.

Doherty joins the Devils from the Australian Cricketers’ Association (ACA), where she served as general manager, player development and wellbeing.

During her tenure, she led the design and implementation of the Australian Cricket Wellbeing Strategy, a nationally recognised framework for athlete welfare and holistic development.

Her background in elite sport management and reputation for fostering inclusive, values-based cultures make her a strategic asset as Tasmania establishes its football identity from the ground up.

Building a People-First Foundation

In her new role, Doherty will oversee the club’s wellbeing, culture, and inclusion strategies across its VFL/W and AFL/W programs, ensuring alignment with the organisation’s broader strategic vision.

She will also play an important role in embedding the club’s purpose and values framework, known internally as “The Devils’ Why & Way,” across all programs and operations.

Tasmania football club’s general manager of strategy, People and Culture, Lauren Jauncey, said Doherty’s appointment strengthens the club’s foundation for long-term success.

“Her extensive experience in elite sport wellbeing, culture, and inclusion will be invaluable as we continue to build a high-performance, values-led environment.”

“Emma’s appointment reinforces our commitment to supporting our people, on and off the field, and embedding the Devils’ values into everything we do.”

Beyond player support, Doherty’s remit extends to the “team behind the team,” encompassing player development staff and club operations.

The aim is to ensure the organisation’s cultural and wellbeing frameworks are both robust and sustainable as the Devils move toward AFL competition.

A Strategic Appointment for Sustainable Success

Doherty described the role as an opportunity to shape the club’s identity during a formative stage in its evolution.

“The opportunity to work across the VFL/W and AFL/W programs, and with the team behind the team, to create an environment where everyone feels supported, included, and empowered is my dream role.

“I can’t wait to get started and help shape the culture and wellbeing foundations that will underpin the club’s success for years to come,” Doherty said.
