British & Irish Lions Unveil QR-Enabled Jersey for 2025 Tour

The British & Irish Lions have unveiled their 2025 Australia tour jersey, created by Canterbury, in a design that merges tradition with modern technology. This latest release not only celebrates the heritage of the Lions but also introduces a unique digital feature aimed at enhancing fan engagement.

The jersey integrates a QR code, allowing fans to connect to exclusive Lions content, including behind-the-scenes videos and interviews. This innovation reflects the Lions’ commitment to creating “fan-centred and player-focused” apparel that goes beyond the traditional jersey, positioning it as a bridge between fans and the Lions community.

“This jersey is a piece of wearable art, woven with the iconic symbols of the four unions,” shared Simon Rowe, Senior Vice President of Sports Marketing at Canterbury.

The symbols of England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales are incorporated into the design, reflecting the unity and tradition of the Lions team. The addition of the QR code, according to Rowe, represents a step forward in how fans can interact with the Lions’ community, bringing them closer to the team in new and meaningful ways.

The initiative to integrate digital engagement within the jersey was driven by early conversations with Giles Morgan of Howden and Matt Hymers, who collaborated to bring this connected jersey concept to life. This approach aligns with a broader trend in sports merchandise, where apparel serves as both a symbol of support and a platform for interactive engagement. By scanning the QR code, fans can access exclusive content, bridging the gap between players and supporters and offering a deeper, more immersive fan experience.

This 2025 jersey marks a shift in sports merchandise, where traditional wearables meet technology. With this approach, the Lions and Canterbury are setting a new precedent, illustrating that a jersey can serve as more than just fan apparel—it can be a gateway to community and connection.
