Australian Athletics Announce 25/26 Summer of Athletics Calendar

Australian Athletics has unveiled its 2025/26 Summer of Athletics calendar, promising one of the most expansive and exciting domestic seasons yet.

Spanning 20 events across six states and territories, the new schedule blends world-class competition, community connection, and pathways for the nation’s rising stars, from the grassroots level to the international stage.

Expressing enthusiasm on the event’s lineup, CEO of Australian Athletics, Simom Hollingsworth, said: “The Australian Summer season and the Chemist Warehouse Summer Series is where our athletes shine, our crowds come alive and our sport is at its most exciting domestically.”

“From Canberra to Ballarat, Perth to Brisbane, and Sydney, we’re bringing opportunities to athletes everywhere and inviting fans to be part of something special,” Hollingsworth said.

At the heart of the season lies the Chemist Warehouse Summer Series, Australia’s premier domestic athletics showcase, running from January through April. The Series features iconic meets including the Perth Track Classic, Sydney Track Classic, Adelaide Invitational, and the showpiece Maurie Plant Meet – Melbourne on March 28, along with a full suite of national championship events.

These include the Australian Athletics Championships, Junior & U20 Championships, and the Half Marathon Race Walking Championships, each offering athletes key opportunities to secure world ranking points and Commonwealth Games qualification.

The Summer of Athletics calendar highlights Australia’s commitment to regional inclusion and competitive excellence, hosting events in major cities and athletic heartlands alike. Fans can look forward to major national championships across disciplines such as track and field, race walking, road mile, and wheelchair racing, as well as heritage meets like Zatopek:10 — which doubles as the Australian 10,000m Championships — and the iconic Stawell Gift.

The season concludes with a double championship finale: the Australian Athletics Championships in Sydney (April 9–12) and the Australian Junior and U20 Championships in Brisbane (April 15–20). These events will see Australia’s top athletes compete for national titles and international selection ahead of the World Athletics Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Further announcements, including broadcast coverage and ticketing details, will be released in the coming weeks via athletics.com.au.
