AFL Launches NAB AFL Auskick At Home

The AFL has announced the launch of NAB AFL Auskick at Home, a series of live-streamed football clinics, providing children the opportunity to stay connected to the sport they love.

The live-streams will allow families around Australia to engage in a series of backyard drills, exercises and skills-based learning in an effort to encourage self-isolation during the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic.

NAB Auskick Ambassadors Joel Selwood and Katie Brennan will host the series, along with Fox Footy’s Nick Riewoldt, who recently shared a backyard clinic on his social media channels after he noticed how gyms and trainers were using online platforms to run at-home sessions, and AFLW player Libby Birch.

Riewoldt said his own children gave him the passion for running Auskick clinics online for children around Australia.

“It’s a great opportunity for families to do something active together and stay connected,” Riewoldt said.

“Being a first time NAB AFL Auskick parent last year, I’m now like many parents who are witnessing how much it is missed by their children.

“The motivation behind these sessions was to try and fill that void for kids who love their footy,” he said.

NAB Auskick Ambassador, Joel Selwood said the clinics that will be streamed via the AFL and AFL Auskick Facebook pages will allow for parents to keep their children engaged in football while they can’t play in their normal settings with friends.

“Kids will no doubt be missing their NAB AFL Auskick sessions; the camaraderie and the freedom to play with their mates,” Selwood said.

“It doesn’t matter if you have all the gear, or none of it, we will make sure the activities are tailored for anyone to participate and have fun.

“We’re so proud to be able to work together with NAB to give Aussie kids a footy experience to look forward to each week,” he said.

AFL general manager, commercial, Kylie Rogers, said this is a great opportunity for the AFL and its’ partners to support the Australian community during the 2020 Premiership season’s suspension.

“It was a heartbreaking and an unfortunate reality to announce the postponement of grassroots football, however, we know at times such as these that community spirit prevails, and we find new ways to connect with each other through our shared passion of footy,” Rogers said.

“We are thrilled to launch the NAB AFL Auskick at Home with our long-term partner NAB.

“We’re delighted that we can continue the program via virtual means and hope even those who are new to football can join us for the fun,” she said.
