The Wests Tigers Centre of Rugby League has officially commenced operations at the Western Sydney University (WSU) Campbelltown campus, establishing a new operational hub for the club’s community, education, and development pathway programs in South West Sydney.

The facility represents a strategic partnership between the NRL club and WSU, leveraging the academic environment to drive regional engagement and talent development.

Affirming the Centre’s foundational role in the club’s strategic roadmap, Wests Tigers CEO Shane Richardson, said: “The establishment of this Centre will underpin the work we do right across the region and is directly connected to the Club’s strategic vision.”

“It’s about connecting with our fans, enhancing the great work already being done across our development pathway, and using rugby league as a vehicle to make a positive impact in the community through Empower,” Richardson said.

Noting the academic opportunities created by the facility, WSU vice-chancellor and president, professor George Williams AO, added: “Embedding the club within a university setting also opens up new opportunities for student placements, internships, research collaboration and hands-on learning experiences.”

“This is a significant step forward for our partnership and for the community,” Professor Williams added.

The Centre is strategically located in the Macarthur heartland and is set to support key community programs, notably the club’s Empower initiative, alongside activities designed to foster growth in junior rugby league participation.

The operational benefit of the Centre is the consolidation of game development efforts. The facility will co-locate staff from the NSW Rugby League (NSWRL) and NRL Game Development, strengthening the game’s overall presence and coordination across the region.

This infrastructure development complements the wider regional investment in sport, including the recently confirmed AUD50 million redevelopment of Campbelltown Sports Stadium, ensuring the Wests Tigers have the necessary assets to drive performance and community connectivity for the future.
