Vietnamese telecommunications company Viettel Telecom has successfully clinched the exclusive domestic broadcasting rights for the 2024 UEFA European Championship national teams tournament, to be held in Germany.
Under this agreement, all 51 matches of the prestigious competition will be showcased on Viettel Telecom’s TV360 television streaming application. The deal grants TV360 exclusive rights to broadcast and distribute the tournament across various television platforms and social media channels throughout the country.
The partnership was established with the CAA Eleven agency, the exclusive sales agent for UEFA’s national team competitions. The Euro 2020, which was played in 2021 due to the pandemic, was previously broadcast in Vietnam by Vietnam Television, the national broadcaster.
Viettel Telecom’s acquisition of the rights for Euro 2024 is part of a broader agreement covering UEFA national team competitions in Vietnam, encompassing Nations League matches until 2028.
In recent developments, UEFA has inked broadcast deals for Euro 2024, with BNT and Nova securing rights in Bulgaria, and Globo and CazéTV, the Brazilian YouTube channel managed by renowned streamer Casimiro Miguel, obtaining rights in Brazil.
Last month, SPOTV, the pan-regional sports channel of South Korean broadcaster Eclat Media, secured exclusive rights in Malaysia and Singapore, while African media platform SportyTV secured a package of free-to-air rights in sub-Saharan Africa.
The kick-off for the Euros is set for June 14, featuring hosts Germany against Scotland at Allianz Arena in Munich. The final is scheduled for July 14 at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
