he Sunshine Coast Lightning have announced a new partnership with New Balance ahead of the 2021 Super Netball season.

The deal sees the international sporting apparel brand become the Lightning’s new apparel partner, with New Balance set to produce the club’s playing kit and licenced merchandise.

Lightning CEO, Danielle Smith, said the announcement is a major achievement for the club and marks the start of a new chapter in the club’s history.

“Partnering with an organisation of New Balance’s calibre is a strong endorsement of our club as we enter our fifth year of operation,” Smith said.

“The Lightning netball dress is a symbol of our club’s unique identity and we are proud to work alongside this iconic brand to create high quality and functional pieces that our athletes can wear with confidence.

“We look forward to unveiling our refreshed playing apparel, as well as a new range of exclusive merchandise and giving our members and fans even more value in 2021,” she said.

New Balance general manager of Australia and New Zealand, Dean Howard, said he believes there’s a strong brand alignment for New Balance and the Lightning and is excited to grow the partnership in the coming years.

“At New Balance our job is to aid athletes in their pursuit of excellence, whether that means helping professional athletes or propelling everyday athletes to live a healthier, more active lifestyle,” Howard said.

“Lightning have experienced great success as part of the Suncorp Super Netball competition, and we cannot wait to see the New Balance logo taking pride of place on their 2021 netball dress, which has been designed to offer the perfect blend of performance technology and style,” he said.

Along with the announcement, the Lightning also announced Belgravia Sports Apparel (BSA), the Australasian elite teamwear partner of New Balance, as a partner in the New Balance deal.
