St Kilda Partner With Holmesglen Institute For Future Students

St Kilda Football Club has announced a partnership with Holmesglen Institute to provide a unique tertiary education opportunity for Holmesglen students pursuing a career in the sports industry.

Students studying a Diploma of Sport Development and/or a Diploma of Event Management at Holmesglen will be provided a chance to learn from club and industry leaders at the Saint’s Moorabbin base and during game-day experiences at both AFL and AFLW matches.

St Kilda CEO, Matt Finnis, said the course will provide students unparalleled access to the club, with opportunities to learn about leadership, high performance, coaching and sports science throughout the different functions within the club.

“Students will share the hallowed halls of St Kilda’s spiritual home at Moorabbin alongside some of the Saints’ most promising talent,” Mr Finnis said.

“We’re really proud to join with Holmesglen Institute and provide this opportunity for people looking to enter the sporting industry.

“To learn from premiership players, coaches and leaders like Brett Ratten, Brendon Lade and Jarryd Roughead is a priceless opportunity to be seized,” he said.

As part of the partnership, students will also see opportunities to shadow player rehabilitation, participate in coaching sessions and assist within the dynamic club operation areas.

Holmesglen Institute chief executive, Mary Faraone, said this program will provide students with the necessary knowledge and experience needed to succeed in the sports industry.

“We’re really pleased to partner with St Kilda on this great initiative,” Faraone said.

“Holmesglen seeks to give its students hands-on learning opportunities and a chance to develop industry connections, so they can use the course as a pathway to a career in sport,” she said.

The partnership is timely for students looking to pursue a career in a range of sport industry roles, as such things as sport coaching, sport administration, sports management and sporting event management are all currently slated for very strong future job growth outlook.
