SANFL extends longstanding partnership with Burley Sekem

The South Australian National Football League (SANFL) has announced the continuation of its enduring partnership with the renowned Australian sports apparel manufacturer, Burley Sekem.

This multi-year extension of the partnership reaffirms Burley Sekem’s commitment to providing on-field and off-field apparel under the Sekem brand for all SANFL state teams, umpiring, talent development, multicultural initiatives and First Nations programs. It includes the production of all staff apparel for the SANFL, including workwear for the SANFL-owned Mosaic Hotel at West Lakes.

The Sekem brand will make its debut appearance this year with the SA Wheelchair Football team, who will wear the brand during the 2023 Wheelchair AFL National Championships in Melbourne, commencing from November 1. This year also marked the first occasion when the APM State Inclusive team sported Sekem matchday kits at the recent AFL National Inclusion Carnival in Queensland.

SANFL Chief Executive Officer, Darren Chandler, expressed his satisfaction with the new partnership agreement, which solidifies an enduring connection between SANFL and Burley Sekem.

“SANFL has enjoyed a long and successful association with Burley Sekem and we look forward to our partnership entering a new era,” Chandler said.

“With now close to 1,000 umpires across our State League and in junior ranks and over 100 SANFL staff delivering footy competitions and programs in every corner of the state, the Sekem brand will certainly continue to grow its presence in South Australia.”

Ed Cunningham, Managing Director of Burley Sekem, shared his delight in continuing the 30-plus year partnership with SANFL and further supporting South Australian football at all levels.

“Australian Rules Football is in our DNA and we are proud to be able to celebrate 100 years of producing Sekem football apparel in 2023,” Cunningham enthused.

Burley Sekem is a division of the esteemed Kookaburra Sports Group, an icon in the Australian sports industry, boasting three brands that have thrived for over a century.
