Report Shows Premier League As The Most Watched League

According to BuzzMyVideo, more than 250 million have watched the Premier League on the video streaming, YouTube, during the 2021/22 season with the La Liga and Serie A in second and third.

Spanish giants, FC Barcelona received the most views on the service with 2.12 billion, followed by an English club, Liverpool, who received 1.59 billion views.

Manchester United had 1.11 billion viewers, whileManchester City received 1.09 billion and Real Madrid had 946 million.

Commenting on the results, BuzzMyVideos chief executive, Paola Marinone, said: “The report shows how the transformation of football to the entertainment industry is progressing.”

“The top European clubs are already treating their YouTube channels as a broadcast D2C, as a strategic part of their media business strategy.

“It is not only a media play but also a global strategy, reaching the audience wherever they are, hence having an even more sizable addressable market.

“There’s a massive area of growth between the top ten European clubs and everyone else, which means there is going to be a lot happening in the coming seasons with different strategies and approaches. I’m curious to see what the results of next year will tell,” he said.

The Italian club, Udinese, recorded the most uploads with 21,261, Spanish club, Sevilla, uploaded 12,758 times, while Barcelona had 9,826 uploads..

Liverpool received the most monthly views with 77.78 million, Real Madrid had53.49 million, Manchester City 48.03 million and Tottenham Hotspur received 38.6.
