Renegades Start The Season With New Sleeve Sponsor
RMIT branding will feature on the sleeve of the club’s BBL playing jersey and media polo throughout the BBL08 season.
Melbourne Renegades CEO, Stuart Coventry, said the strong community connections between both organisations could deliver great opportunities in the partnership.
“As one of not just Melbourne’s but Australia’s oldest tertiary institutions, we are delighted to be partnering with RMIT,” Coventry said.
“In 2017, RMIT was home to more than 87,000 students and 11,000 staff globally.
“That footprint, combined with a strong focus on providing opportunities to regional communities, puts us in an excellent position to work closely with RMIT to achieve our collective goals,” Coventry said.
RMIT Associate Dean, Computer Science & Software Engineering, Professor John Thangarajah (founder of RMIT’s cricket club back in 2002), said the University was delighted to become the Community Partner of the Melbourne Renegades.
“This new partnership adds to our already strong connection with Melbourne’s vibrant, world-class sporting scene, and positions RMIT as the university of choice for a quality student experience in Melbourne,” Thangarajah said.
“We are committed to our connection with industry and creating quality learning outcomes for our students, so we’re excited to see what opportunities might develop out of this newly-formed partnership.
“RMIT has its own thriving sports scene through the RMIT Redbacks, and I know that many of our students, including the cricket fanatics from our strong international cohort, will be at games this summer experiencing the excitement of BBL.”
The Renegades defeated the Perth Scorchers in their season opener at Marvel Stadium.
