Real Madrid Announce Cisco Partnership For Stadium Technology Upgrade

European football giants, Real Madrid, have confirmed a multi-year deal with US technology company, Cisco.

As part of a multi-million-dollar refurbishment to the iconic Santiago Bernabéu, Cisco will overhaul the current technology system.

The refurbishment is expected to be completed at the end of 2022, with Cisco’s interconnected network to allow for immersive experience for fans at the stadium.

Cisco will offer the fans innovative experiences both in-stadium and at home around the world, whilst optimising the data, security and Wi-Fi bandwidth for stadium staff.

Along with these, Cisco will introduce over 1,000 screens throughout the stadium combining digital signage and input from the data centre distributed in video format.

Cisco EMEAR president, Wendy Mars, said: “Real Madrid is one of the jewels in the crown in the world of sport.”

We’re delighted to add a club with such a rich history to the global portfolio of sporting institutions that Cisco works with.

“We hope to bring the potential of our two global brands together to promote a more connected and inclusive future for the game,” she said.

Real Madrid director of institutional relations, Emilio Butragueño, said: “Thanks to this collaboration agreement with Cisco, a leader in connectivity and content management, the Santiago Bernabéu will be able to share data, voices and videos to anywhere in the world and this will guarantee the widest range of services and an unrivalled spectacle within the world of football.”

Santiago BernabĂ©u now joins the likes of the world’s top stadiums such as SoFi stadium in California and the MCG in Melbourne to improve or announce plans to improve their digital experience for fans in stadium.
