Qatar Airways Takes Second Sponsorship Cap With Golf Australia Deal

Golf Australia has signed a lucrative long-term deal with Qatar Airways, making the multiple award-winning airline its new Official Partner.

The three-year agreement with Australia’s governing body of golf, will also  Exclusive Airline Partner of the world-renowned Ladies’ Professional Golf Association (LGPA) annual ISPS HANDA Women’s Australian Open tournament, which takes place in Adelaide from Thursday 14 to Sunday 17 February 2019.

The national carrier for the State of Qatar is currently the Official International Airline Partner of Australian Football League (AFL) team, the Sydney Swans, after signing a similar three-year sponsorship with the iconic New South Wales club in 2016.

Qatar Airways Senior Manager of Australasia, Adam Radwanski said: “Qatar Airways is pleased that our second foray into high profile Australian sports sponsorship is with an organisation as prestigious as Golf Australia.

“We believe in the power of sport as a way of connecting our passengers through their passions and hobbies, and the internationally-respected Golf Australia is the right partner to showcase our ongoing commitment to the Australian market.”

The Golf Australia sponsorship follows a busy 2018 for the airline with the successful launch of the new Canberra-Sydney-Doha route, the introduction of their state-of-the-art A380 aircraft on the Perth route and the new menu launch for all Australian routes with celebrity chef George Calombaris.

Golf Australia’s CEO, Stephen Pitt was excited about the announcement: “To have the world’s fastest-growing airline join our partnership portfolio is a true reflection of the organisation’s vision and direction for the sport.

“We look forward to working in partnership with Qatar Airways with the shared goal of driving golf participation and rewarding golfers across the country.”

Qatar Airways currently operates a modern fleet of more than 230 aircraft to a network of around 160 key business and leisure destinations across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia Pacific, North America and South America.

The airline was named ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax.

Qatar Airways has launched an array of exciting new destinations recently, including Gothenburg, Sweden; Mombasa, Kenya; and Da Nang, Vietnam.

In addition to Davao, the airline will add a number of exciting new destinations to its extensive route network in 2019, including Malta, as well as many more.
