Pro Volleyball Federation secures media rights deal with CBS Sports for inaugural season

The Pro Volleyball Federation, a burgeoning women’s professional indoor volleyball league in the United States, has inked its inaugural media rights agreement with CBS Sports, a subsidiary of the prominent US network owned by media powerhouse Paramount.

Under this multi-year domestic rights deal, CBS Sports assumes the role of the official television partner for the Pro Volleyball Federation, scheduled to kick off its inaugural season in January. The agreement guarantees a minimum of 10 matches to be broadcast in 2024, along with the semi-finals and championship match during the Pro Volleyball Federation’s championship weekend.

In 2024, the matches are slated to be predominantly televised on CBS Sports Network, with the possibility of select matches also airing on the main CBS channel. The league’s comprehensive national broadcast schedule, in collaboration with additional media rights partners, will be disclosed at a later date, and international rights negotiations are also on the horizon.

“This is another groundbreaking day in the history of Pro Volleyball Federation,” Pro Volleyball Federation co-founder Dave Whinham remarked.

“In CBS Sports we have a great partner that believes in the growth of women’s professional volleyball in North America. We are very proud of this relationship and excited about the dynamic new ways we will be able to present our matches within the CBS Sports platform.”

The announcement comes against the backdrop of CBS Sports’ recent revelation that its chairman, Sean McManus, will retire next year after an impressive 27-year tenure with the company.

Stepping into the role will be David Berson, the president of CBS Sports for the past decade, who is set to assume the position of the company’s president and chief executive.
