The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Tour has announced that United Airlines will remain the Official Airline of the PGA Tour until 2025.

Under the deal, United Airlines will maintain their commitment to grassroots golf in the USA, providing grants to colleges and universities.

United have committed a total US$1.5 million (AU$2.2 million) to 55 school golf teams classified as Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) for the next three years.

Each school will receive a US$10,000 (AU$14,850) travel allowance from United, allowing them to compete in tournaments across the country.

Commenting on the renewal, PGA Tour executive vice president, Brian Oliver, stated: “On behalf of the PGA TOUR, I’m grateful to our long-time partner United Airlines for their continued support of our players and Tour as well as HBCU golf programs across the country.”

“Partnering with a global leader like United has allowed us to make significant steps towards diversifying the landscape of competitive golf and enhancing the overall student-athlete experience,” he said.

Discussing the HBCU initiative, United managing director, Jennifer Entenman, commented: “We are immensely proud to continue our work with the PGA TOUR to help remove barriers for collegiate athletes at HBCUs so that they can be given the same opportunities to fulfill their potential and pursue their dreams”

“United is committed to driving racial equity and inclusion and we have seen the profound impact these grants have on the communities we serve,” she added.

This follows the launch of the PGA Tour’s fan engagement partnership with Qualtrics.
