Perth Scorchers and Peet Bring Community Cricket Experience to Shorehaven Primary School

Shorehaven Primary School students were given a unique sporting experience last week, with more than 230 children taking part in a Perth Scorchers Community Fan Day delivered by Principal Partner “Peet”, as school grounds were transformed into an interactive cricket hub, providing young fans the chance to meet and train alongside professional Scorchers players.

The event brought familiar Scorchers faces including Lance Morris, Matthew Kelly, and Aaron Hardie to the school, where they led cricket skills clinics and engaged students in activities designed to build foundational skills in batting, bowling, and teamwork.

The initiative welcomed children of all abilities, reinforcing accessibility and participation as core components of the Scorchers’ community outreach.

Peet Western Australia state manager, Paul Morgan, said the Fan Day reflects the strength and purpose of the long-running partnership between Peet and the Perth Scorchers.

“Our partnership with the Perth Scorchers is all about building strong, active communities, and that begins with our young people.”

“It’s rewarding to see so many children come together, enjoying the sport and creating lasting memories right here at school,” Morgan said.

Scorchers bowler, Matthew Kelly, said opportunities to inspire and connect with young fans play a significant role in fostering the next generation of participants and supporters.

“Days like this, made possible by partners like Peet, are so important for inspiring the next generation and making the game open to everyone.”

Perth Scorchers general manager, mommunications, marketing & stakeholder management, Jess Keily, said the initiative demonstrates how meaningful community partnerships can create long-term engagement within local neighbourhoods.

“These Community Fan Days allow us to share our passion for the game directly with families in their local neighbourhoods, breaking down barriers and igniting new interest.”

Now in its eighth year, the partnership between Peet and the Perth Scorchers has delivered Fan Days and grassroots engagement programs that have connected more than 11,000 community members to cricket since 2017. The return of the Fan Day to Shorehaven Primary for the second year in a row highlights the continued demand and enthusiasm in the local community.

As participation-driven community sport initiatives continue to gain traction nationwide, the Perth Scorchers and Peet partnership stands as a sustained model of grassroots connection, accessibility, and youth engagement.
