ac-12 Network have announced a first-of-a-kind name, image and likeness (NIL) licencing program with blockchain technology company, Recure, and artificial intelligence specialists, Veritone, to produce the National Collegiate Athletic Association’s (NCAA) Non-fungible Tokens (NFT).

The launch of the first NFT marketplace will allow college athletes to use clips and highlights from its broadcasting output on Pac-12 Networks in potential NIL deals.

The support from Veritone and Recure will see them work with college athletes to authorise NFTs containing their personal highlights.

Through the agreement, NFTs will be available exclusively on Recur’s online marketplace, NFTU.

Pac-12 Network senior manager for distribution and licencing, Kenden Blake, said: “This new partnership between Pac-12 Networks, Veritone and Recur will unlock new ways to deliver the Pac-12 sports content fans love, now through NFTs.”

Recur’s co-CEO, Zach Burch, added: “In partnership with Veritone, we are excited to leverage our technology to bring Pac-12 Networks to the NFT arena, and offer fans the previously unavailable opportunity to own their own favourite Pac-12 plays, sports memories and traditions.”

Veritone has licenced Recur to produce new video NFTs from Pac-12 Networks, including critical highlights and moments for both both men and women’s collegiate sports.
