NT Strike League Secures Naming Rights Partner
The Northern Territory’s local insurer for over 40 years, TIO, has signed on as the naming rights partner of the 2019 Strike League series.
In just the third year of competition, this groundbreaking initiative is part of NT Cricket’s strategy to position Darwin as a winter playing and training hub for cricket, in turn showcasing the Territory and all that the north has to offer, as well as providing greater opportunities for local cricketers, coaches and umpires.
As part of the agreement with NT Cricket, TIO’s naming rights will cover the TIO Junior Strike League (7 – 12 July), TIO Women’s Strike League (27 July – 2 August) and TIO Men’s Strike League commencing (4-25 August).
Speaking on the new partnership, TIO CEO, Daryl Madden, said: “TIO is excited to partner with NT Strike League for the first time.”
“The all-important pathway to elite cricket for aspiring Territorian cricketers is amplified via the expansion of the TIO Strike league and we are pleased our investment will directly support this.
“TIO is proud to support local initiatives, particularly those that allow greater accessibility for women and emerging youngsters.
The TIO Strike League competition continues to go from strength to strength, with the Hobart Hurricanes BBL and WBBL team joining the men’s and women’s league for the next three years until 2021.

“TIO’s strength as an organisation lies in their understanding of the local community and they well and truly understand the significant potential for the TIO Strike League to become a major Territory event.
“In just two short years the TIO Strike League has put the national and international cricketing spotlight on the Territory, with the inclusion of the Hurricanes BBL and WBBL teams in 2019 set to take the event to the next level.
Coinciding with the TIO Women’s Strike League, the Tasmanian women’s and ACT women’s professional cricket teams will also tour the Top End in late July and conduct training camps along with a series of 50 overs matches ahead of the 2019 Women’s National Cricket League commencing.
All Tasmanian and ACT players in Darwin for the tour will take part in the TIO Women’s Strike League, playing alongside the Territory top women’s players within one of the three teams competing in the competition.
“Our top women’s and men’s amateur players now have the ability to take on some of the best professional cricketers in the world in their own backyard, a unique opportunity that doesn’t exist anywhere else.”
The NT Strike League will commence on August 4 and conclude on August 25.
