Nib Becomes First Major Partner Of Richmond AFLW Team

Richmond’s joint major partner, nib health funds, has expanded on its partnership to support the club’s inaugural AFLW team and the Richmond Women’s Football Program.

The deal will see nib’s logo appear on the back of the Tigers’ AFLW guernsey in 2020, and nib will also deliver a digital content strategy to promote the club’s entry into the AFLW.

Richmond CEO, Brendon Gale, said he is excited to have nib supporting their next step, entering the AFLW.

“Nib is a trusted and dynamic brand that for two seasons now has fittingly been part of our proud jumper,” he said.

“Stepping into women’s football has been an exciting journey for our club and it is fantastic that our valued partner, nib, will have prominent representation in our inaugural AFLW season.

“We’re also looking forward to nib helping to bring our Women’s Football Program to life, by supporting the delivery of engaging digital content,” Mr Gale said.

Nib group executive, Rhod McKensey, said the partnership extension is an exciting addition to nib’s brand sponsorship portfolio.

“We believe in diversity and are genuine in our commitment to partner with female sport, from grassroots through to the elite level.

“It’s more than just a logo on apparel, it’s about funding key programs such as resources at the club to help grow female grassroots programs and creating content that celebrates aspirational role models,” Mr McKensey said.

The support of nib through this partnership will reportedly allow Richmond to fast-track the club’s Women’s Football Program through pathways, talent development, facilities and supporting programs.

In addition, the partnership will also see the introduction of diversity and engagement events for nib employees and mindfulness programs for the Richmond female athletes.

Richmond, who is set to join the AFLW competition in time for the 2020 season, is one of four new teams added to the league, bringing the total up to 14 teams as the AFLW further expands.
