he National Sports Convention has announced the launch of its new and extended convention program for 9 November – 11 November in Melbourne.
As part of the announcement, the organisation has detailed a rebrand to the National Sports and Physical Activity Convention (NSC) which will see the focus for this year be on a bold and sustainable agenda, exploring innovation, growth and future investment.
With the rebrand, the NSC will focus on physical activity post-COVID-19 and how the sports industry can embrace and encourage an active community through sport participation programs.
The event has revealed a number of key ‘Thought Leaders’ for the event, which is supported by Sport Australia, Sport New Zealand, Sport Singapore, the Victorian Government, Play Australia, various state/territory governments and over 30 peak body collaborators.
The ‘Thought Leaders’ include Sport Australia acting CEO, Rob Dalton, Australian Olympic Committee CEO, Matt Carroll, Sport England CEO, Tim Hollingsworth, Sport New Zealand CEO, Raelene Castle, and Sport Singapore CEO, Lim Teck Yin, among others.
NSC curator and co-founder, Martin Sheppard, said: “This year’s event is excited to expand and bring not only excellent Global Thought Leaders, with the themes around investment, growth and future investment needed for the sector.”
“In addition, we have over eight hours of networking time and the integration of the new NSC Academy, like a ‘Netflix’ for our industry with resources for all registered delegates.
“By the time the convention starts there will be over 100 detailed interviews with leaders in the industry, hundreds of insights, research papers and documents to help delegates in their roles,” Sheppard said.
The NSC started in 2016 as Australia and New Zealand’s largest community sport and recreation convention with over 1,500 annual attendees.
