The Minnesota Twins have officially announced the elevation of Derek Falvey to the role of President, Baseball & Business Operations, while Dave St. Peter will transition into the position of Strategic Advisor, effective Monday, March 3.
This change finalises the executive leadership succession plan that was previously outlined by Twins Control Owner Jim Pohlad and club Executive Chair Joe Pohlad on November 12, 2024.
Derek Falvey, who is embarking on his ninth season with the Twins, has 18 years of experience in Major League Baseball, and will become the fifth president in the history of the Minnesota Twins, but will be the first to hold the combined title of President, Baseball & Business Operations.
Falvey began his tenure with the organisation in October 2016 as Executive Vice President and Chief Baseball Officer before being appointed President of Baseball Operations in November 2019.
During his time with the Twins, he has overseen teams that have amassed the 10th-most wins across Major League Baseball in the last eight seasons.
His leadership has also driven significant advancements in the team’s strategic planning, innovation initiatives, and commitment to both employee development and community engagement.
On the other hand, St. Peter concludes a notable 22-year presidency, marking him as one of the most influential executives in both Twins and broader Minnesota sports history.
Initiating his journey with the organisation as an intern in 1990, he stepped into the role of president in November 2002 and later assumed the title of Chief Executive Officer in December 2016.
In his new capacity as Strategic Advisor, St. Peter will maintain a collaborative relationship with the Pohlad family, Falvey, and the team’s executive leadership, offering insights on vital development topics, which include the ongoing evolution of Target Field and the Twins’ new broadcast partnership with Major League Baseball.
