Independent Esports company, PGL, has renewed its partnership with international sports and entertainment brand, IMG, granting the agency PGL’s global media and distribution rights through to 2025.
The deal builds atop the pair’s long-standing relationship and will see IMG continue to serve as the Esports company’s exclusive partner for sponsorship, media, and data rights for PGL’s 2023-25 events portfolio, acquiring the world’s most prestigious Esports tournaments under PGL.
IMG’s previous media sponsorship and collaborations with the PGL included the successful CS:GO Major Championship 2022 in Antwerp, which drew in a peak viewership of 2.1 million, breaking the record for the largest attendance of any indoor sports event with over 20,000 attendees for the gaming final.
Commenting on the partnership renewal, IMG Media commercial manager, Joe Jenkins, said: “PGL has established itself as a frontrunner in Esports production, producing some of the most sought-after tournaments on the calendar.
“The last few years have witnessed a rapid rise in the popularity and commercial viability of competitive CSGO & Dota2 events, and we look forward to helping PGL capitalise on the vast potential of its impressive event portfolio,” he said.
PGL Esports CEO, Silviu Stroie, added: “Over the last few years, we have come together to propel esports to new horizons, setting the benchmark for rights and sponsorship growth in the industry.”
“We are excited to drive this partnership forward and add greater value to all our partners and events,” he said.
This news comes after Romania was announced as the next host of the World Esports Championships.
