Illawarra Hawks president, Dorry Kordahi, has stepped down after two years in the role.

Kordahi cited the need to focus more time and attention on his other businesses and endeavours as the reason for stepping down.

While in the role, Kordahi is credited with starting the Hawks in Business Program and had a large impact in luring head coach Brian Goorjian to the club in 2020.

However, Kordahi is only relinquishing his operational duties and will remain in the Hawks’ ownership group.

Former Hawk and Australian Boomer, Matt Campbell, will take the title of acting president for community-related activities.

The club’s ownership group also announced their commitment to helping the club thrive in the Illawarra, with the recruitment process for a new president underway.

The announcement comes after AFL CEO, Gillion McLachlan, announced his resignation after an eight-year tenure with the league, and Stadion announced, Russell Stopford, as their new CEO.
