lobal sports betting and gaming group, Entain, previously GVC Holdings PLC, has begun trading under a new name, with new initiatives announced.

The company announced its new strategies last month, aimed at boosting its expansion in the United States, entry into new markets and new audiences.

With 19 consecutive quarters of double-digit growth in its online business; Entain’s Sustainability Charter also pledges a focus only on regulated markets and use its proprietary technology to raise levels of player protection.

Entain chief executive, Shay Segev, said: “At the heart of our growth strategy is a determination to bring the best player experiences and protections to our industry as technology moves sport and interactive entertainment into a new era.”

“We have invested in the right building blocks to grow and become a long-term leader in responsible gaming, with superior technology and capabilities,”Segev said.

Funds will be allocated to new international projects through Entain’s international foundation.

A $50,000 donation to Relationships Australia Queensland was the first of those to impact the Australian market.

Relationships Australia Queensland is a not-for-profit organisation offering a range of support services to gamblers and their families.

The funding will go towards a series of digital campaigns to raise awareness among vulnerable audiences about the signs of gambling addiction.

Entain Australia CEO, Dean Shannon, said: “Our business has enjoyed a long and fruitful association with Relationships Australia and it is fitting that it should be the first recipient of a donation from Entain’s new international foundation.”

“The Australian business is very committed to continuing to strengthen its approach to Responsible Gambling and harm minimisation, as displayed by the release of our game-changing Punter Assist program earlier this year.

“We are more determined than ever to ensure our customers enjoy their gambling experience in a safe and responsible manner and it is great that this approach is completely aligned to Entain’s global strategic vision to be the market leader in this space.

“We look forward to continuing to work with Relationships Australia and hope this donation helps assist them to continue the great work they do in the community,” he said.

Relationships Australia Queensland CEO, Ian Law, said: “Our counselling programs aim to reduce the harm caused by problem gambling and to build resilience and stronger relationships and personal wellbeing for people adversely affected by gambling.”

“The funds from Entain will allow us to expand our online presence and provide targeted education and protection strategies for gamblers in a range of timely ways.

“By providing pathways to counselling and resources informed by clinicians, that are accessible online anywhere, anytime, we hope that it will serve as an early-intervention strategy that reduces the risk of a gambler reaching crisis point,” Law said.

The new business model includes initiatives that will operate in Australia where the Ladbrokes, Neds, Betstar, and Bookmaker brands are run, but an Entain executive has confirmed there will be no changes to these brands and no effects on sponsorships.
