Basketball’s global governing body, FIBA, has announced a new partnership with international logistics company Kuehne+Nagel. The agreement designates Kuehne+Nagel as the official global logistics supplier for FIBA, with a focus on supporting various tournaments over the next two years.
As part of the partnership, Kuehne+Nagel will offer essential shipment and logistical consulting services for key events, including the 2024 FIBA Olympic Qualifying Tournaments, both men’s and women’s FIBA U17 and U19 Basketball World Cups, FIBA Continental Cup Qualifiers for men, and the men’s and women’s FIBA Continental Cups in 2025.
FIBA emphasised that beyond immediate tournament support, the collaboration aims to establish a long-term relationship with Kuehne+Nagel. The partnership is geared towards enhancing shipping and logistical operations, as well as addressing the crucial goal of increasing sustainability and reducing FIBA’s CO2 footprint globally.
Kuehne+Nagel, known for its involvement in various sports sponsorships, including collaborations with SailGP and serving as the logistics partner for Team Germany and Team Great Britain at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, brings valuable expertise to FIBA’s network.
Frank Leenders, FIBA Media and Marketing Services Director General, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Kuehne+Nagel as our newest partner and this further strengthens FIBA’s global partner network.”
“We appreciate the expertise Kuehne+Nagel brings to the table, and we know it can help us significantly with our efficiency and in our quest to become even more sustainable in what we do.”
“Kuehne+Nagel also has a strong track record within the field of logistics specifically for sporting events and we look forward to working with them to secure what we know will be some impressive outcomes.”
Highlighting Kuehne+Nagel’s proven track record in logistics for sporting events, Leenders anticipates impressive outcomes from this collaboration. FIBA’s recent extensions of global partnerships with Molten, Smart Communications, and Ganten, alongside existing collaborations with brands like NIKE, TCL, Tencent, Tissot, Wanda, J9, and Yili, underscore the organisation’s commitment to building a robust network of supporters.
