F1’s Las Vegas Grand Prix reaches average of 1.3 million viewers on ESPN

Last weekend’s Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix showcased a strong viewership performance on Disney-owned ESPN in the United States, with an average of 1.3 million viewers.

This achievement marked the third-largest Formula 1 audience on cable for the season and secured the sixth-largest viewership across all ESPN platforms.

The coveted 18 to 49 demographic displayed an average viewership of 668,000, a key metric indicative of the series’ future vitality. The overall viewership reached its peak at 1.5 million viewers between 1:15am and 1:30am (ET).

The race, available for streaming on ESPN+, emerged as the second-most viewed Formula 1 event on the over-the-top (OTT) platform, trailing only this season’s Miami Grand Prix.

The West Coast dominated the top ten local market ratings, with Las Vegas leading the way with the highest rating for the race, likely influenced by its local connection.

Max Verstappen took out the inaugural Las Vegas GP, securing his 18th win from 21 race starts in 2023 on his way to a third straight F1 Drivers’ Championship triumph.

As the 2023 Formula 1 season approaches its conclusion this weekend in Abu Dhabi, it is poised to become the second-most-viewed season ever on US television, maintaining an average viewership of 1.12 million.

Although this figure represents a slight decrease from last year’s 1.21 million viewers, it is essential to note that the 2022 season included the exceptional record of 2.6 million viewers for the inaugural Miami Grand Prix. The strong performance of the Las Vegas Grand Prix suggests continued success and growing interest in the sport Stateside.
