Comcast Becomes Second Founding Partner Of LA 2028 Olympics

The LA 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games organising committee has announced its second founding partner, owner of NBCUniversal, Comcast.

In joining Delta Air Lines as a founding partner for the 2028 Olympics, Comcast will work to drive lasting social change and build a more equitable and inclusive society, according to LA 2028.

Alongside the announcement, Comcast has also extended its partnership with Team USA through to 2028.

Comcast Corporation CEO and chairman, Brian Roberts, said the company will work to support LA28’s diversity, equity and inclusion collective, with the company already securing the US broadcast rights for the Olympic and Paralympic Games from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through to 2032.

“Supporting Team USA is one of our greatest honours, and we are proud to extend this special partnership and begin the exciting journey toward the LA28 Games,” Roberts said.

“Every Games year, our company comes together to share the extraordinary moments and stories of the world’s best athletes and celebrate their hope and resiliency.

“It is truly a privilege to be able to bring that inspiration home to America for years to come, and we’re looking forward to doing just that this summer in Tokyo,” he said.

LA28 chairperson, Casey Wasserman, said: “Our journey to the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games is fuelled by limitless possibility.”

“As we look to inspire and connect with the next generation of fans across Los Angeles and around the world, we will share thousands of stories of sport, creativity and inclusion.

“Comcast is the perfect partner to bring those stories to life and we look forward to working together over the next eight years to create real, sustainable, positive change in our communities,” Wasserman said.

While the financial details were not made public, it is believed LA 2028’s first founding partnership with Delta Air Lines is worth USD$400 million.
