Collingwood Football Club Community Foundation invests $8 million for Community Members

The Collingwood Football Club Community Foundation, alongside the committed Magpie Army and its partners, pays tribute to the Club’s working-class roots by extending essential support to the most vulnerable members of the community.

In the first half of 2025, from January 1 to June 1, the Foundation has allocated approximately AUD$231,000 towards its housing initiatives, contributing to a total investment of AUD$8,170,415 since its establishment in 2014.

The Foundation’s community programs focus on delivering critical necessities, such as food, shelter, and a sense of belonging to those in dire need.

This year, the Magpie Nest Cafe has notably served 50,000 free meals to Melbourne’s disadvantaged. In the previous year, the cafe provided a remarkable 104,000 free meals, averaging roughly 10,000 meals each month, largely supported by generous donations and a dedicated group of volunteers.

Importantly, all donations exceeding AUD$2 are tax-deductible, encouraging further community involvement.

The café serves as more than just a food provider; it also offers a vital space where individuals can access various wrap-around services, including legal assistance, optometry, NDIS support, Centrelink services, and emergency accommodation.

In addition, the Magpie Nest Housing program aims to deliver safe, affordable accommodation alongside utilities assistance and comprehensive support services.

Over the past decade, the Foundation has successfully provided housing for more than 120 individuals, including residents within the Ngarra Jarranounith Place residential program.

This program represents a unique healing and behaviour change initiative for Aboriginal men who may use or are at risk of using family violence.

Through personalised support and group activities, it aims to create a positive impact on participants’ lives.

The Collingwood Football Club Community Foundation continues to make a significant difference in the lives of some of Melbourne’s most vulnerable, exemplifying its commitment to community support and change.
