BP Takes Naming Rights Of First Supercars Event

BP has extended its support of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship by becoming the official naming rights holder of the first event on the revised calendar.

The BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint will take place at Sydney Motorsport Park on June 27-28, signalling the return of the Australian motorsport competition following the COVID-19 pandemic forcing the season to be suspended.

BP Australia general manager of marketing and innovation, Adam Arnold, said the deal further extends BP’s commitment to Supercars, after becoming the official fuel supplier for Supercars before the opening round of the 2020 Supercars championship.

“BP is delighted to take naming rights to Supercars highly anticipated return to racing event, the BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint,” Arnold said.

“The event provides BP an exciting opportunity to help engage all those passionate racing fans around Australia who have been waiting patiently for on track racing to recommence,” he said.

Supercars general manager of commercial, Jamie Black, said the deal highlights the support of BP since signing up this year, which was also boosted by being the naming rights partner of the BP Supercars All Stars Eseries competition, which filled in the gap of live Supercars competition during the season’s hiatus.

“We’re delighted BP has extended its partnership with Supercars and will be the naming rights partner of the BP Ultimate Sydney SuperSprint,” Black said.

“This event is significant for our category and our sponsors.

“Fans around the world will be tuning in to see our return to racing.

“To have an industry leader on board, continuing to support our sport as the naming rights partner of this event is great news,” he said.

The event is set to be a three-race event, with a top 15 shootout and opening race on Saturday, followed by two races on Sunday, with every session to be broadcast live on Fox Sports 506 and Kayo.
