Basketball WA (BWA) has announced a new corporate partnership with Nexus Airlines, focusing on expanding the sport’s regional development pathways and streamlining travel logistics across Western Australia.
The alignment directly addresses the unique geographical challenges of managing sports leagues in the state by securing reliable transport infrastructure for Basketball WA‘s regional development personnel and referee networks.
Nexus Airlines, Western Australia’s newest regional carrier, services a comprehensive route network across the state’s North and Mid West, including key hubs such as the Kimberley, Perth, Geraldton, Karratha, Port Hedland, and Broome.
The basketball governing body intends to enhance its grassroots capabilities and deliver consistent development clinics and officiating standards to remote communities.
Basketball WA CEO, Fabian Ross, highlighted how the aviation partnership serves as a vital connection piece to unify the state’s basketball ecosystem.
“At Basketball WA we are always looking at ways we can build connection across this vast state of Western Australia, and by partnering with Nexus we are able to extend our basketball capabilities and reach to more areas.”
“Nexus is a well-respected and award-winning airline and we are proud to be partnering with a company so connected to local communities,” Ross said.
Beyond grassroots development, the commercial agreement features heavy promotional integration with the NBL1 West competition.
Nexus Airlines will sponsor the “Picture Perfect Play” segment each round, an initiative that showcases high-flying action photography captured by local media and creators.
The airline will also launch a major consumer engagement campaign in the coming weeks, offering fans a chance to win a curated “Trip to Geraldton” experience.
The promotional prize package includes return flights, accommodation, a regional day trip, and premium tickets to an NBL1 West fixture featuring the Geraldton Buccaneers.
